The interview

Jessica Nardone is a 27 year old chiropractor. She lives in Hollywood, California, United States.
DS: How did you hear about Dailysingle? What are you expecting from being on the front page?
Jessica: I heard about Dailysingle from a friend in public relations. She had nothing but good things to say about Dailysingle. I expect attention from being on the front page. My life's mission is to better the lives of as many people as I can by helping them achieve their optimum health. Most people who hear my message receive it with open arms, and I'd like a larger audience so that more people have the chance to choose to live their best lives.
DS: What are the most memorable years of your life and what happened to make them so memorable?
Jessica: 1984: born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 1988: broke my arm by falling off monkey bars - had to learn how to swim and ride my bike while wearing a cast, 2006: Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans, 2006: lost my uncle to AIDS, 2007: graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in biology. August 2007: the month my life changed forever: I discovered what chiropractic was and how it helped people - I cancelled my MCAT exam, call my family and friends and told them that I was becoming a chiropractor. I've never had second thoughts and I've never been happier since, 2009: went on my first mission trip, 2009: lost two grandparents, 2010: tried beef tartar for the first time - yum, 2011: graduated from chiropractic school, 2012: opened a practice in West Hollywood.

Chiropractors located and adjust things called subluxations. Subluxations are misaligned vertebra (back bones) that irritated the nerves that exit your spinal cord.

DS: How would you best describe yourself?
Jessica: I'm rather quiet, until a subject I like comes up in conversation, then you can't shut me up. I can't help but to make people laugh in a serious situation if it's been too long. I wear my heart on my sleeve. When I ask you how you are, its because I truly want to know.
DS: What are the must-haves in your daily wardrobe?
Jessica: Shorts whenever possible. I'm a huge fan of them. One of my favorite things about moving to California is the fact that I can come home from work and put some shorts on every day of the year!

DS: Who do people tell you you look like?
Jessica: It's been anywhere from Tina Fey to Jennifer Lopez!
DS: How did you end-up being a chiropractor?
Jessica: Since Junior High, I'd thought I wanted to become a medical doctor. At Penn State, I majored in biology and began shadowing M.D.'s. I quickly discovered that being an M.D. was not at all what I had imagined it to be. I wanted to help people live healthier and happier lives - I did not want to send them home with a prescription. I wanted to actually connect with my patients and empower them to have control over their health. With seven days of college left to go,while reading a health book, I stumbled upon chiropractic. I had no knowledge of how it worked or what it could do, but from that moment forward I've dedicated my life to educating others about this life-changing thing we call chiropractic.

The Question

“Are you currently taking any medications, prescription or over the counter and are under the age of 55?”

Participate and answer Jessica's question on The Wall below.

DS: Can you tell us more about your job?
Jessica: Chiropractors located and adjust things called subluxations. Subluxations are misaligned vertebra (back bones) that irritated the nerves that exit your spinal cord. Adjustments are the action of re-aligning the vertebra. Why would this be important, you ask? It's vitally important because your brain controls everything in your entire body: bones, organs, blood flow, etc. It's only connection between the rest of your body and itself is your spinal cord and nerves. When you are subluxated, messages running to and from the brain get jumbled up - this will manifest in the form of disease, muscle spasm, headaches, asthma, etc. Adjustments are quick and painless, and are one of the best forms of preventative health measures that you could undergo. I know I've already talked about a lot of good stuff, but would you like to know the best part? There are no side effects from getting adjusted!

DS: Let's talk more about you and your tastes. Any hobbies? What do you like to do in your free time? Any thing you like and recommend?
Jessica: Since my profession is science-based, many of my hobbies seem to be geared toward exercising the other side of my brain. I paint and charcoal sketch often. It is such a relaxing stress reliever. I read for at least 20 minutes each day, I believe it keeps you sharp. I've loved sports since childhood - softball, football, hockey. I cheer on my Pittsburgh teams whenever I can. I exercise and I love all outdoor activities. I really enjoy hiking in Malibu. I've run a few half marathons in California, and I still try to keep up the distance running. I feel that if I pretend that I like running long enough, I eventually will. I would choose going to an art museum over most other activities: art inspires me in a way that nothing else can. One of my favorite spots in Los Angeles is called Barre. They have live shows weekly called For the Record. The themes range from John Hughes films to Tarantino to Baz Luhrmann. Live song and dance by very talented performers for a minimal price.
DS: What is a typical week for Jessica?
Jessica: I treat patients Monday-Friday. I go to local places in the area, such as a gym, to give health talks. I am following the paleo diet, so most of my meals are made at home. I try to work out - run, pilates, Insanity workout video every day. Truth be told, if I'm lucky, I'll get 4-5 days a week of workouts in. I don't work too late, so it's convenient to meet friends for dinner or attend a new Meetup group - I love to try new things and meet new people. That pretty much sums up my weeks. My weekends: usually some social event at a bar or lounge one night, possibly a movie the next, and church and family on Sundays.
DS: Some quick questions: What is the first thing you do in the morning?
Jessica: Feed my cat so she stops meowing.
DS: What is your favorite restaurant in Hollywood?
Jessica: Beso
DS: What is your favorite song today? Of all time?
Jessica: Today: Turn me on by David Guetta and Nicki Minaj. All-time: Scenes from an Italian Restaurant by Billy Joel
DS: What is your favorite "drug"?
Jessica: Treating a new patient - I love sharing the amazing chiropractic story with others. Also, the song Total Eclipse of the Heart.

DS: What is in store for you? Any key projects for the next months? Anything you want to share? Can our readers help you with anything?
Jessica: I'm trying to plan as many speaking engagements as I can. I give health talks on a variety of subjects: nutrition and exercise, stress, weight loss and work, sports injury prevention, children obesity, school backpacks, etc. I'm rather new to West Hollywood/Hollywood area, I'd like more contacts.
DS: Anything you want to add to close this interview?
Jessica: I know that there are a lot of chiropractors in this area, but I am not here to simply treat back and neck pain. I am here to change how people think about disease and prevention. I'm going to begin the health revolution and teach this city how to take their health into their own hands. You're going to be amazed at how easy this can be, and I'd like you to be a part of it.
DS: Thank you Jessica
