The interview

Per Magnusson is a 32 year old CEO/ Partner of d.brand US Inc. He lives in New York City, New York, United States.
DS: How did you hear about Dailysingle? What are you expecting from being on the front page?
Per: It was my dear friend Charles-Henry Kurzen who recommended Dailysingle, and I love it! I am the CEO/ Partner of a Swedish fashion brand new to the US and think Dailysingle would be a perfect outlet for the brand and myself to be featured on.
DS: What are the most memorable years of your life and what happened to make them so memorable?
Per: I was born in Sweden in the late 70's in the archipelago outside Stockholm. Growing up on the countryside in Sweden made me realize how lucky I was when I moved to NYC. After finishing high School in Sweden I spent a year in Oxford prepping for College in US. I moved to NY in early 2000 and graduated from Pace University in 2004 with BBA in Economics with a minor in Art. I spent most of my career in Finance but I was laid off when my bank went bankrupt in late 2008. Since then I have been involved with many interesting projects, ranging from real estate, yoga wholesale and I feel I have finally now found my true passion and calling, d. brand.

Growing up on the countryside in Sweden made me realize how lucky I was when I moved to NYC.

DS: How would you best describe yourself?
Per: People always said I am loyal, friendly and have an extremely high level of energy; I only need maximum 5 hours of sleep. I am someone who you can trust and will always be there for my friends in every aspect. I love meeting new people and socialize at different events, it makes who I am and what I am all about.
DS: What are the must-haves in your daily wardrobe?
Per: Must haves in my closet.. that's easy. My wardrobe consists of shirts (woven collared button downs, d. brand signature polo's) coats (from trenches to d. brand nylon racing jackets), cashmere sweaters of all colors imaginable, d. brand denim in various cuts and washes and of course at least 15 pairs of shoes for different occasions and weather.
DS: Who do people tell you you look like?
Per: I have a unique bone structure hahaha, I heard people say i look like Owen Wilson, since I am huge fan of Zoolander I love it.

DS: How did you end-up being a CEO/ Partner of d.brand US Inc?
Per: One of my best friends from Sweden e-mailed me and asked if I could take care one of the co-founders of the d.brand while he was in NYC. I was more than willing to help him out with whatever. He was in NYC looking for an agent to represent d.brand. I helped him setting up meetings with different agencies while I was working on my Yoga project. Time went by and everybody loved d.brand, but launching a brand on a extremely competitive market takes a lot time and a big investment. After months of searching for agencies d.brand confronted me and asked if I was interested. A dream came true, since I grew in a entrepreneurial family this was perfect for me, I knew it would be a huge challenge and it would require me to use my social skills and network to succeed. I decided to investment in d.brand US Inc and I couldn't be more than happy right know, business is good, good press and most important good response from buyers.
DS: Can you tell us more about your job?
Per: Being new to the industry I knew I had a lot to learn, however being surrounded by people in the industry I had a lot of good mentors. There is so much more than just sales and PR in fashion that you have to think of in order to be successful in the industry. There are so many different aspects that have work including; flawless shipping, distribution, customs, lawyers, accounting, copy rights and etc. First and foremost you must have a game plan including: expansion, target customer base, wholesale vs retails costs, employees.. the list goes on. I must say am really happy with what we have accomplished so far; approximately 24 doors that will carry d.brand for Spring '12, we have had some major publications pulling styles for upcoming issues including; Seventeen Magazine, People Magazine, Teen Vogue, Real Simple, Health Magazine along with fantastic bloggers such as " Denim Therapy, Denim Hunt etc" I am happy with what has been accomplished so far, but of course you always want more!
DS: Let's talk more about you and your tastes. Any hobbies? What do you like to do in your free time? Any thing you like and recommend?
Per: I am a avid skier, last year I got close to 30 ski days, usually 10 days in Utah every winter best snow on earth "Alta, Snowbird and Solitude is a must". I love playing golf and hang out with friends, dinners and drinks. Since I started d.brand I have been going to a lot cool events and met tons of interesting people which is always a lot fun. I love cooking at home, I am a true BBQ master nothing beats a thick Filet Mignon with some garlic mashed and some red wine sauce with mushrooms along with a bottle of Bordeaux. Music vice, getting dressed I play loud Swedish House Mafia and at the office classic rock and Hed Kandi.

DS: What is a typical week for Per?
Per: There is not a typical work week for me, usually plan to see stores, get press to the office, follow up existing customers, brainstorm what we can do to expand in a smart and healthy way at the same time saving money. I tend to go out for dinners a lot during the week with customers/ potential customers, meet up with press/ PR, events and expand my network in every possible way I never leave office without at least 20 business cards and at the end of the night, they are all gone.
DS: Some quick questions: What is the first thing you do in the morning?
Per: I always snooze for like 10 min while I check my Blackberry, then I turn on the TV and walk around the apartment organizing.
DS: What is your favorite restaurant in New York City?
Per: Le Bilboquet for sure, but I heard they are closing soon and I can't wait for Bagatelle to open. Other good ones Crown, Catch and Villa Pacri.
DS: What is your favorite song today? Of all time?
Per: Anything with Aviici - Levels or Calvin Harris - Bounce, it's Monday gotta get going now.

DS: What is your favorite "drug"?
Per: My favorite drug is definitely powder, there is nothing that makes me more excited to see 30 inches of fresh pow. Other than powder it has to be red wine, a full Bordeaux.
DS: What is in store for you? Any key projects for the next months? Anything you want to share? Can our readers help you with anything?
Per: For the coming months I really have to plan how we are going to deliver our products to our customers in a smart economical way. For the Holidays my wife and I will be going to Sweden for 15 days to spend time with family and friends. I can't wait to see my sister's newborn boy!
