The interview

Veronique Bressard is a 29 year old life & career coach. She lives in New York City, New York, United States.
DS: How did you hear about Dailysingle? What are you expecting from being on the front page?
Vero: I kept seeing people on Facebook liking this or that Dailysingle and finally clicked on one today! And I thought "this is fresh!" and a perfect way to tell people a little about my passion: Coaching.
DS: What are the most memorable years of your life and what happened to make them so memorable?
Vero: 1985 to 87: The golden years - my father was sent to NY for work so my family and I moved from France to live 2 of the best years of my life. These years abroad had a major impact on the rest of my life 1990: acted in my first play - theater became a part of my life for ever 2001: first sailing boat crew with 15 friends celebrating the end of an era (preparatory school and child/teenagehood I guess) and the beginning of another (Business School and, in some way, adulthood) 2005: Graduated and moved straight back to NYC as I had planned for the past 20 years :) 2008: Met my husband -totally unexpectedly- and started coaching professionally 2010: Got married
DS: Where were you born and where do you live now?
Vero: I was born in France near Paris, then moved to NY -my first life memories are here- then back to France for 18 years going back and forth to NY every summer, then back to NY and now I am considering moving back to Paris. Sometimes I wish there were an island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean so as to be halfway from both my hometowns :)

It is also very rewarding to know that you have helped someone move one step forward in their lives - one step closer to happiness.

DS: How would you best describe yourself?
Vero: I am an optimistic and energetic life-loving person who enjoys connecting with people by all possible means. I love meeting people, listening to their stories and connecting them with others. My friends call me Nokia :)
DS: What are the must-haves in your daily wardrobe?
Vero: Leggings and any kind of dresses you can wear with them, my Comptoir des Cotonniers favorites, my black pants and my Theory sweaters & jacket
DS: Who do people tell you you look like?
Vero: People used to say I looked like Jodie Foster (nice) but now I get more Uma Thurman (even nicer:), Melanie Laurent and since Californication started to air, I get a lot of Natasha Mc Elhone (also in the Truman Show) which is kinda cool !
DS: What is the compliment you most frequently get?
Vero: Great listener and friend.

DS: How did you end-up being a life & career coach?
Vero: I started thinking of it when I was 18 and all my friends and family were calling me the coach. I always liked listening to people I love, helping them get ahead of their challenges and reach their goals, whatever they were. I am a firm believer that you can be happy in life -even when everything seems grim- and that you always have the power to make the best of any situation. So one day I thought it was time to realize this vocation and make it a living. I enrolled at NYU and got my coaching certificate and trained to get an accreditation from the ICF (International Coach Federation). I loved every part of it and am now a fulfilled coach with clients in Europe and the US.
DS: Can you tell us more about your job?
Vero: I help people, who are stuck in their life or career, figure out the next step and how to get there. I truly believe in my clients' potential so I challenge their thinking and listen to the unsaid to make them aware of what they need to do to achieve it. I love my job! It is fascinating to meet people and follow them as they get unstuck and clear about what is it they want(instead of what they should want). It is also very rewarding to know that you have helped someone move one step forward in their lives - one step closer to happiness. Coaching is a pretty young profession that has yet to be standardized and recognized. But the industry is definitely growing towards professionalization and I hope that, 5 years from now, people will need to have some sort of credential to call themselves coaches.

DS: Let's talk more about you and your tastes. Any hobbies? What do you like to do in your free time? Any thing you like and recommend?
Vero: I love spending time with my family and friends, and especially sharing long meals with them as I am a food and wine lover. Theater is my second passion: I took classes for 15 years and would love to be part of a company again. I am also a TV show addict, I play tennis and practice yoga & pilates - what NY does to you, it's crazy :) And, last but not least, I love to travel and see the world - I am actually going to Japan in a week for my honeymoon and I can't wait!
DS: What is a typical week for Vero?
Vero: Weekdays are usually like this: wake up, have breakfast with my husband, relax before the day starts and then.... work, lunch with friends, work again, then work out, cook at home or discover a new restaurant, attend events, party, go to the movies, Potato Couch night with my favortie TV shows,... And weekends are either out of the city, enjoying the beautiful Hamptons or Fire Island, traveling or planning to, or relaxing in the city enjoying all it has to offer !
DS: Some quick questions: What is the first thing you do in the morning?
Vero: Check the weather... Ok and my e-mails :)
DS: What is your favorite word?
Vero: Eternity
DS: What it your favorite quotation? Or make your own for posterity...
Vero: Good luck sometimes beats early rising :)
DS: What is your favorite "drug"?

Vero: I am planning a few events to walk the talk and tell people what coaching is and who it is designed for. And as always, I'll be working on growing my business so if any of you -or your friends- feel like you are stuck in your professional or personal lives, please do reach out - the intro session will be half price for all Dailysingle readers!
