To be a Dj comes with different little jobs that are more or less fun like looking for venues, negotiating and promoting

DS: How did you end-up being a dj producer & remixer?
Sid Vaga: I have always been a music lover as far as I can remember. With just a nice CD collection I improvised myself as resident DJ at Cafe Noir in 1999. Actually co-produced the Cafe Noir Compilation including my first track 'Sanguebom'.
Since then I have played in over 50 lounges and clubs in the New York scene, LA, Santo Domingo, Chile, Mexico.
DS: Can you tell us more about your job?
Sid Vaga: To be a Dj comes with different little jobs that are more or less fun, like looking for venues, negotiating and promoting.
The only part I truly enjoy is to make people dance!
What is key for me to have for a successful night is to have friends dancing and a great sound system.
What would I say to someone how wants to start that job?
Dont take it has a job, if you want a job then get a job job, to me djing must come from passion.
I often hear, 'a dj has to play what the crowd wants'.. I dont agree, im sharing my collection with you, only play the tracks I LOVE, no less.
This past summer I was invited to play in Tulum, Mexico, djed feet in the sand, mosquitoes on my ankles but this vibrant 500 people crowd was just throbbing, was amazing!
My ideal job? I got it!
DS: Let's talk more about you and your tastes. Any hobbies? What do you like to do in your free time? Any thing you like and recommend?
Sid Vaga: My favorite party this summer was my weekly rendez-vous on Sundays at Ete d'Amour New York. Those parties are organised by Jerome Viger-Kohler and Neil Aline. They always have a rotating roster of some cutting edge, some famous and all really good DJs. This year they were hosted at Le Bain in the Standard Hotel which also has a kick-ass sound sytem. I had the pleasure to play there. The rooftop is amazing with the floor all covered with fake grass, low tables, inflating mattresses, super hot girls, weirdos, laughter, french accent, interesting people and the disco vibes all present.
My favorite restaurant is Zucco on orchards st, the food is non-pretentious and awesome!
My favorite movies are Barry Lyndon, Oldboy, Munich, Snatch, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, and sooooo many more...
